SWAMI VIVEKANANDA's LECTURES

 Religion is the idea which is raising the brute unto man and man unto God.
 Space is in the soul and not the soul in space.
 When a man has begun to be ashamed of his ancestors, the end has come.
 Even as an intellectual study, the study of Vedanta is the healthiest.
 The whole ocean is present at the back of each wave.
 Art is-representing the beautiful. There must be Art in everything.
 The leaders of our societies have never been either Generals or Kings, but Rishis.
 Only that kind of work which develops our spirituality is work.
 Every improvement in India requires first of all an upheaval in religion.
 Perfection comes through the disinterested performance of action.
 The sum total of good and evil in the world remains ever the same.
 What makes one man great and another weak and low is-Shraddha.
 Education is not the amount of Information that is put into your brain and runs
riot there, undigested, all your life.
 Arise Awake! And stop not till the goal is reached.
 A nation is advanced in proportion to education and intelligence spread among the
masses.
 Blows are what awaken us and help to break the dream.
 All that man has to do is to take care of three things; good thought, good word,
good deed.
 If there is seen, this is the only sin, to say that you are weak, or others are
eak.
 He who adjusts himself best lives the longest.
 Religion is realization; not talk, nor doctrine, nor theories, however beautiful
they may be.
 Choose the highest ideal and live your life upto that.Look at the ‘ocean’ and not
at the ‘wave’.

ECHOES

A son and his father was walking on the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!” To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”
Curious, he yells: “Who are you?”
He receives the answer: “Who are you?”
Angered at the response, he creams: “Coward!”
He receives the answer: “Coward!”
He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”
The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.”
And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!” The voice answers: “I admire you!”
Again the man screams: “You are a champion!” The voice answers: “You are a champion!”
The boy is surprised, but doesn’t understand/
Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.”

The Magic Of Three Days

It was a beautiful spring day, and a sense of peace stayed with me as I left the cathedral on Easter Monday morning. I paused for a moment on top of the steps leading to the avenue, now crowded with people rushing to their jobs. Sitting in her usual place, inside a small archway, was the old flower lady. At her feet, corsages and boutonnieres were parading on top of a spread-open newspaper.

The flower lady was smiling, her wrinkled old face alive with some inner joy. I started down the stairs - then on an impulse, I turned and picked out a flower.

As I put it in my lapel, I said, "You look happy."

"Why not?' she answered. "Everything is good."

She was dressed so shabbily and seemed so very old that her reply startled me. "You've been sitting here for many years now, haven't you? And always smiling. You wear your troubles well."

"You can't reach my age and not have troubles," she replied, "only it's like Jesus and Good Friday..." She paused for a moment.

"Yes?" I prompted

"Well, when Jesus was crucified on Good Friday, that was the worst day for the whole world. When I get troubles I remember that, and then I think of what happened only three days later - Easter - our Lord arose from the dead. So when things go wrong, I've learned to wait three days... and somehow everything gets much better."
She smiled good-bye, but her words still follow me whenever I think I have troubles... "Give God a chance to help. Wait three days."

THINK POSITIVE

It is important to note that a positive thought is 100 times stronger than a negative one, so don’t go stressing about all those negative thoughts you have been harboring, just read on and commit to change, if you really want to transform your life. One of the ways to easily change your thought patterns is by being aware of how you feel. Our thoughts create our feelings, so , when we feel negative; angry, resentful, jealous, etc that’s the trigger for you to decide to change! Choose a positive present tense statement. My all time favorite is “All is well in my world” Simply repeat this over & over, put real feeling into this new thought, choose to feel good! Really it’s that simple; the next time you catch yourself worrying or thinking negatively about something, just calmly take a step back & decide to think about the situation differently. With the knowledge that you can choose your thoughts, repeat a positive, present tense thought in place of the negative one. By doing this you are also attracting to you positive situations. Remember thoughts are energy & like attracts like……

LEARN FROM SENIORS

Always be in the company of seniors because thousands of experiences are written on each wrinkle of the faces of seniors. Their trembling hand and neck, tumbling feet and dispirited face give message that whatever anybody wants to do good, do it now today and instantly.
You can't do anything tomorrow.Any old man is the greatest educational institute on this earth, because by seeing him one gets the message of the sunset of the rising sun..................

A Moral Story

An old man lived alone in a village. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:

Dear Son,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in prison.
Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram: "For Heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up the garden!! That's where I buried the GUNS!!"
At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.
Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and asked him what to do next.
His son's reply was: "Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad.. It's the best I could do for you from here."

Moral: NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING DEEP FROM YOUR HEART YOU CAN DO IT. IT IS THE THOUGHT THAT MATTERS NOT WHERE YOU ARE OR
WHERE THE PERSON IS .....

LEARNING A KEY SUCCESS TO LIFE

Have you ever dwelled upon how key learning is to your life in terms of your ability to not only survive but also to thrive both professionally and personally??
Becoming a lifelong learner is important to your health, your success, and your happiness, but if that is not enough reason to learn more then consider these three key reasons to keep your desire to learn and to live and learn.

Change is healthy. Change is healthy for your diet, your physical well being, your mental state, and your brain’s health. While change is not always comfortable its benefits usually far outweigh its challenges. We know change is good for us but that doesn’t make it easy to force ourselves to change.

Learning can decrease your weaknesses. Most of us spent a lot of time and effort trying to conceal or compensate for our weaknesses when that time would be much better spent simply learning more about that particular aspect of our lives and learning how we can decrease that weakness. Perhaps with time and effort that weakness can becomes strength.
Learning keeps your mind sharp. Study after study shows that when it comes to the brain it really is using it or loose it.
Challenging your brain by learning new skills and experiencing new things can foster brain growth and development no matter what your age.

Create your own rainbows.
Be open to all your possibilities—All possibilities and miracles.
Always believe in miracles….

Inspiration

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, live, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.
If somebody loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.
Make everyday count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.
Talks to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen.
You can make your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live it.

ARE YOU GOD’s WIFE

It’s a cold day in December. A little boy about 10-year-old was standing before a shoe store on Broadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold. A lady approached the boy and said, “My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?” “I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,” was the boy’s reply. The lady took him and went into the store, and asked the clerk to get a half dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He brought them to her. She took the boy to the back part of the store and washed his feet, and dried them. By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. She purchased the boy a pair pf shoes, and tying up the remaining pairs of socks, gave them to him.

As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words, “ARE YOU GOD’s WIFE?”

THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK

The train has started moving. It is packed with people of all ages, mostly with the working
men and women and young college guys and gals. Near the window, seated an old man with his
30 year old son. As the train moves by, the son is overwhelmed with joy as he was thrilled
with the scenery outside...
“See dad, the scenery of green trees moving away is very beautiful"
This behavior from a thirty year old son made the other people feel strange about him.

Every one started murmuring something or other about this son.” This guy seems to be a
crack...” newly married Anup whispered to his wife.

Suddenly it started raining... Rain drops fell on the travelers through the opened window.
The Thirty year old son, filled with joy “see dad, how beautiful the rain is ..."

Anup's wife got irritated with the rain drops spoiling her new suit.

Anup," cant you see its raining, you old man, if Ur son is not feeling well get him soon to a
Mental asylum...and don’t disturb public henceforth"

The old man hesitated first and then in a low tone replied “we are on the way back from
Hospital, my son got discharged today morning, he was a blind by birth, last week only he
got his vision, these rain and nature are new to his eyes.. Please forgive us for the
Inconvenience caused..."

The things we see may be right from our perspective until we know the truth. But when we know the truth our reaction to that will hurt even us. So try to understand the problem better before taking a harsh action.
